Our little Mason loves baby swimming, but taking a bath is also something he loves. Today I’ll tell you about Mason’s bathtub routine. We like to take bathtubs together as well. It’s so much fun now that he’s four months and he can be in the water about 20-30 minutes. So much time to play!
Baby Bathtub Routine
I always take care that the water is not too hot and not too cold either. About 37 degrees is just perfect for Mason. I always put in his feet first and then the rest of the body slowly, so he gets used to the water.
Hair and body
To start with, I use the ‘Eco baby shampoo and bath’ from Derma to have some foam in the water. I use this also to wash his body and hair. I like using a wash cloth for that. It’s easier. The reason I like to use Derma is, because it’s based on pure, natural and organic ingredients including nourishing aloe vera. It contains no perfume, no parabens and no dyes and thereby minimises the risk of allergy and hypersensitivity reactions.
Even anyone else from the family could use these products, it’s not only for babies.
After the bath tub, I like to dry Mason and as soon as he’s dry, I like to massage his body with baby oil. This will relax him even more. Here in Sweden, there are mommy groups where you can go to and learn how to massage your baby. But follow your feelings, by touching your little one and seeing his reaction, you can tell if your baby likes it and relaxes from it.
The cream can be used on top of the oil. It’s not too much, you can’t put too much product on a baby skin. The baby skin can dry out fast, so even on dry spots like Masons knees, I put a bit cream, several times a day. The cold air outside can be dry and this keeps his skin moisturized.
You might know that the baby butt can get red and irritated easily. I must say that Mason doesn’t have this often, but if it shows up a little bit, I put the baby salve on the irritated spots and usually the redness disappears within a day. The wet wipes from Derma prevent redness as well, since there is no perfume, no dyes and no parabens in it for example. It’s better to prevent irritation by using the right products.
Swim and talk
While Mason is in the bathtub, I let him swim a bit on his belly. He’s always stretching his legs right away and starts moving them. He loves the water and isn’t afraid at all. He doesn’t like to be on his back anymore since he can move by him self on his belly already (while being on the floor indoor). So since he’s enjoying to be on the belly, he prefers that too in the water.
While drying him and dressing him, I always talk to him. We interact and he likes the attention a lot. It’s such a great time together to have a baby bath tub routine together. It’s like having girl time for mommy haha. Much more fun than putting skincare and make-up on myself actually. Mason is always so grateful for the time we spend. There’s nothing better than enjoying these times!
What do you use while taking a bathtub yourself or your baby?
I have to feed the little one one, he’s asking for mommy’s milky! See you soon and leave a comment if you want!
