Babynest | Södermark Design

Hi guys, today I will tell you all about the perfect babynest that I found from Södermark Design, here in Sweden. But first, I am sorry I was a bit offline, haven’t posted so much. As you can imagine, the end of the pregnancy is here and I’m much more tired lately. Next to that I have a lot of contractions, as my body is prepping for the delivery. I hope you understand that of course I love to blog and write, but I will always take my rest before blogging.

Babynest

Let me tell you what a babynest is and why it’s so great to have one. Next to that, I will tell you why I like the babynest from Södermark Design!

The babynest is a little soft bed or sleeping area for your child that can be used from day one. The babynest copies the environment of the mothers stomach because it’s tightly around the baby since it’s small. The child can’t roll out of the babynest, so it’s really safe as well. It’s a great way to let the baby sleep on it’s back. You can imagine how light, soft and easy the nest is and this is why you can bring it with you while traveling.

Södermark Design

What’s so special about the brand Södermark design? They have a comfortable mattress bottom (2cm) that is very comfortable for the baby. The babynests from Södermark design can fit your standards as you can choose many additional options on their website. The fabrics that are used for the baby nests are prewashed in Neutrals’ opaque liquid detergent, so safe for the skin of the baby! The great thing about Södermark Design is, that you can e-mail them and have personal contact about the babynest that can be specially made for you! What I love about the babynest I received, is the quality of the nest, it feels firm and stable. The materials are soft and clean. The mattress is a big plus and the way the nest comes with a pretty bow and decorations is just so romantic and sweet! I took some photo’s to show you the quality from nearby and the overal view of the babynest. In order to have some fun before the baby is born, I decorated it a bit. I hope you get inspired! Let me know what you think of the babynest and if this is something you’d like to have for your baby (if you have one). Remember it’s a great gift as well for a babyshower of a friend or familymember. Take a look at the website of Södermark Design and all their cute little baby nests in different colors. They also have pillows and some other baby stuff!

36+0

So I am already 36+0 weeks today. We wish for a delivery after week 37+0, one more week to go! Anyways, if the baby would be born today, he would be just fine. There are no huge risks while having the delivery in this week, it’s a great accomplishment after the first pregnancy (Féline was born week 26+6). I don’t fear preeclampsia or HELLP anymore. Even if it would appear now, we would just start the delivery and it would not be risky for me or the baby anymore. That’s super news and we are so ready to meet him. I am wondering a lot about how big his eyes will be (we both have big eyes, daddy and mommy) and of course how he would look like. I had a lot of black hair when I was born, but Mache didn’t have so much hair being a newborn. I am super excited to hold him in my arms, to start to try the breastfeeding and to give him so many kisses!

And you must be so curious about the name… we haven’t told anyone yet! But we found the perfect name a few weeks ago!

Soon I’m a mommy for the second time!

XO,
Sabine

Important update! Please read this.

A friend of mine gave me the advice to share this info for Dutch people to read and I have translated it to English for every one else: source: NCJ = Nederlands Centrum Jeugdgezondheid.

Advies

Translated to English (sorry I’m not a pro in this, but you get the point by reading this).

Advice

“Do not use because child safety has not been demonstrated. If you choose, strictly supervised by adults only.

Rating

The product is intended as a bedspread where the baby is surrounded by a fender. It is said that it is possible to sleep with it in the bed, the box or the sofa. Some websites state that supervision is necessary, others do not. The nest is often recommended for ages where the child has been able to roll for a long time. The fender is like a wreath around the child’s head. If the child faces the edge with the face it is conceivable that the breathing is hampered. “

My conclusion how to use this babynest

Since I really love the idea of a babynest, I think it’s good to take this serious. I would surely want to use the babynest, but maybe not at night, all night without supervision. It’s still a great little bed for naps during the day, while visiting others or have the baby close to you while watching over the baby. I can  understand that the baby could stop breathing when he or she is too close to the side of the babynest, but I think it will be very rare. This is my own conclusion, without even using it. I would like others to share their experiences and I wouldn’t use it during the night because the Dutch center recommends not to do so. As a blogger I feel responsible in writing honest reviews and this came on my path while sharing the blog post. So I had to adapt. I’m not an expert and it can be that the babynests are perfectly safe, even at night, but I wanted to have said this, so every mom or dad can make their own choice how to use the babynest.

So far the update, wish you a good day!

Sabine

Looks really comfy for your baby. When you girls were small, we didn’t have one, but I used my breastfeeding pillow with a special cover for the same effect

Super handig! Ziet er lekker cosy uit en ook best wel veilig dankzij de hoge randen. Eentje om te onthouden voor als het bij mij zo ver is. 😊

This little nest looks perfect en very comfy for that precious little baby. Almost makes me wish I had one. :)
By the way, is that a knit blanket underneath the nest on one of the photos? That also looks beautiful!

Looks cosy and sweet. But it looks a bit scary to me. When my son was a baby I didn’t have a babynest. I love your Miffy! Good luck on your last trimester!

That looks so nice and soft. Also a little bit scary because of all the warnings but if you are around that it must be fine I think? I think for the baby it’s like heaven. Very save and soft all around..

Good thing you shared the disclaimer, you can never be too careful. I do think the baby nest looks amazing! You can still use it with supervision like you said, it looks cute.
