When I had the opportunity to try out a new haircare line from L’Oréal, I said yes right away! This is because I’m always looking for new products to take care of my hair. The L’Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care line looked amazing and caught my attention.
They have different products for different hair types. I tried the following one that suits my colored hair:
GERANIUM – Radiance Remedy for dull hair:
Geranium is a particularly bright and colorful flower. The oil is used in a lush formula that revives vibrancy and shine in dull or colored hair.
Botanicals Fresh Care promises
The haircare line promotes and promises the following points:
Together with botanists and chemists, they have created high-performance formulations with ingredients from natural origin, which are free of silicone, parabens and colorants.
- High performance formulations with natural ingredients
- Free from silicone
- Free from parabens
- Free from colorants
I have been washing my hair for three weeks with these products and this is what I have noticed.
First, I used the shampoo, then the mask for 3 minutes. As step 3 I’ve been using the conditioning balm.
On top of the routine, after drying my hair, I’ve used the shine vinegar (spray) which gives a great smell to my hair. The shine is not that spectacular I must say. But my hair is pretty dry from coloring.
Normally I use products from my hair dresser and salon products are much more expensive and usually a bit more concentrated and they promise to work better than products you can buy in any store.
I have noticed the difference, but there is a big difference in price too, so it’s not fair to compare salon products with drugstore products.
What I must say however is that for this price, the quality of the products is better than average drugstore products. This is why:
The shampoo cleans my scalp really good, but I use 5 pumps. I don’t get a dry scalp from the shampoo. The mask makes my hair really soft and smooth. The conditioner is really something to add in the ends of my hair only. I don’t need much after the mask. It could work for me to use only one of them after washing my hair.
The shampoo comes in a super handy pump packaging. This makes it so easy to dose how much you like to use. I pumped five times and every time I’ve applied some shampoo on a different part of my head. This is super easy.
The spray was most disappointing since I expected more shine. However it’s great to use it after a night sleep and to freshen up your hair in the morning. It can be part of your perfume routine.
The Botanicals Fresh Care line sounds completely organic or maybe even vegan. However I was a bit surprised about their ingredients list (check the shampoo below):
Aqua / Water • Sodium Laureth Sulfate • Coco-betaine • Propylene Glycol • Glycerin • Glycol Distearate • Sodiumchloride • Cocos Nucifera Oil / Coconut Oil • Sodium Benzoate • Sodium Acetate • Sodium Hydroxide • Ppg-5-ceteth-20 • Polyquaternium-10 • Salicylic Acid • Pelargonium Graveolensflower Oil • Limonene • Benzyl Salicylate • Linalool • Benzyl Alcohol • Isopropyl Alcohol • Carbomer • Citric Acid • Hexyl Cinnamal • Glycinesoja Oil / Soybean Oil • Parfum / Fragrance.(F.i.l. C191670/1)
To me this wasn’t so botanical as I expected. I think of a green garden when I hear the word botanical, but this is not only green or organic. Great marketing because once I have been using it, I started to love the products. But if you’re looking for green, vegan or animal friendly, this isn’t going to be your favorite hair care line.
Prices: about 10,00 euro per bottle (shampoo, conditioner, mask, vinegar).
Great that L’Oréal cares a lot for the environment with the packaging. The promises of this hairline are kept if you ask me. A bit more shine from the shine spray would be welcome. The packaging looks great in my bathroom and is very inviting.
A keeper if you ask me! Especially in this price range (drugstore). A good hairline for a beautiful hair routine. However the products contains a lot of ingredients that other haircare lines also contains; they are not free from chemicals. The products are also tested on animals which I think is too bad because this line you could expect a more vegan experience. This is not the case but wasn’t part of the promises on the packaging either.
Im curious if you have tried this new hair care line already and if you would like to try it. Leave a comment about your impression of this line after reading my review.
Have a good hair day!
