Hair trend; Two Dutch braids

Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com 1

Hair trends are so much fun, aren’t they? What I see here in Stockholm so much lately, is all these girls in the city wearing two Dutch braids! Since I am Dutch I had to try this out! The difference from a Dutch braid and a French braid is that the Dutch braid is folded underneath, while the French braid is folded on top. The Dutch braid looks like the braid is on top of your head. This is such a cool hair trend now. I had to try, so what did I do? When you’re a beginner like me, it’s good to watch some youtube video’s. There are about one million girls that made these videos already. I checked like three.Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com

The most important things I learned from those videos are:
1. Take your time to do this, especially the first time.
2. Prepare your hair by brushing and some hair spray on top, so that the look won’t become frizzy.
3. Give it a try, it doesn’t have to be perfect! Use a mirror and check what you’re doing.
4. Pull out the braids a little after you finish them, so that they become even bigger braids! Just pull carefully so the braids won’t go loose.
5. Be proud of yourself!Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com

I thought it was so much fun to finally do this. I had to share this with you. I am totally not perfect in doing my hair, but once you got the feeling, it’s very doable to do this with your own hair!
If it doesn’t work out, try it with wet hair or put a little bit wax in your hair to make it less slippery. The effect of your braids, when you make them loose again, is super curly hair. I had it the day after and it was super nice for a dinner that I had. So if you just want this effect, you can do that without heating up your hair, which is so much better for your hair! The effect is the best when you put a lot of hairspray on the braids after braiding them, so when you make them loose, the effect is strong and will hold longer.

How to wear this?
Girls, you can do anything with this look. Make it more romantic with wearing pastels. I love the look with my pastel pink shirt and my new glasses. It’s sweet. Pastels are super hot this spring, so if you don’t have something light pink – blue or green, I would recommend it to add it to your spring wardrobe! Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com 1 Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com 1

But with the red loggers shirt, it’s more a cooler look. You could combine it with red lipstick and red nail polish.
My favorite red nail polish is OPI big apple red. I am wearing it right now as I am typing this blog post. My cousin loves this color too. It’s so funny, we both were wearing this color at the same time – without knowing it from each other – when she called me yesterday night. We checked the colors we were wearing (since I have so many different red nail polish) and we found out we were wearing the same! She lives in Qatar and we are still so close by heart. That’s just such a coincidence and amazing! <3Hair trend - Two Dutch braids - OPI nail polish www.sofarsosabine.com 1
I could think that fresh flowers in your hair will do great on weddings with these braids. It’s also nice for a day with a spring feeling! It’s a great hair style for children too, so it’s amazing to do a mother-daughter look with this! Suitable for everyone! It’s a great hairstyle for a work out too, no hair will be in the way!

Do you like the hair trend; two Dutch braids? I am curious what you think of this and do you think it’s nice on me? Let me know, if you like!

Ja, naar je werk… Je zou de twee vlechtjes op je hoofd vast kunnen zetten voor een nettere look of ze samen in een knotje kunnen dragen?

Yes, that’s really good for your hair, so it won’t get damaged. I can imagine you had beautiful long hair. Would love to see pictures of you as a kid! See you soon sugar.

I can’t help it. The hair braids reminds me of Japanese schoolgirls. I guess that is because I am Asian and more exposed to Asian culture. Nevertheless, it did make you “girlish”, Sabine. :)

Love this trend! You can totally pull it off! I love the way that it gives you a hairstyle one day and then another the next day without doing much! I may have to do this tomorrow!

They looks lovely! Unfortunately my hair doesn’t listen to me at all and even if it’s pretty long, I can’t really style it by myself. I love it when I go to the hairdressers and she makes it curly – and with her products it actually stays curly for a day. :)

I can do braid on someone else’s hair but find it extremely difficult on my own hair. I remember learning how to braid with my Barbie doll.

Honestly, I have never tried to braid my own hair. But I did try to learn how to do hair braid for my daughter. It makes her feel refreshing. Speaking of fresh flower, I used it once as a hair accessory when my daughter was chosen to be a flower girl in a friend’s wedding. I even made a post out of it entitled Do It Yourself Hair Embellishment.
