Eating a lot is what we all do with Christmas. Usually unhealthy! It’s great to let yourself go, but this year, I’m going to try to eat a bit more healthy snacks for Christmas! Here are my favorites and why!
Healthy snacks for Christmas
The reason I want to eat a bit more healthy, is because it took me some work to get rid of my pregnancy weight and I like to keep my body healthy now that I am breastfeeding. We eat more vegan or vegetarian at home and I try to make it easy for my husband to stay healthy by cooking healthier. So let me show you my favorite snacks for Christmas, maybe you’ll get inspired and otherwise, enjoy the unhealthy snacks as well! (It’s not like I am never eating sugar or fat, but I try to keep the balance here haha).
I hear you thinking, what is healthy about chocolate? Ok, it’s not the healthiest food in the list, but here’s why this is a better choice than just other chocolate. First of all, the cocoa is healthy for you! Fairtrade is always a better choice! Next to that, the product is organic. So healthy in that way!
2. Bounce – proteinball (energy ball)
This healthy bomb is good for quick energy from coconut, nuts and whey protein. It’s gluten free and has a lot of fibre. The coconut makes it a bit sweet. The ball has a real ‘bite’.
3. Estrelle Linschips (chips from lentils).
The chips are made from lentils! The healthier chips have 40% less fat. I like it also that the chips is made in Gothenburg, Sweden.
4. Four healthy drinks
I choose not to drink alcohol at the moment, because of the fact that I am breastfeeding our son. I don’t like to drink soda’s. So water is the usual. With Christmas, I like to drink something else. I’ve tried the Froosh ifruit mini, which is bottled fruit (mango and orange smoothie). I also tried the Pure Leaf ice tea. This ice tea doesn’t contain a lot of sugar or calories, like other ice teas do. Obviously, drinking green tea is healthy, so another fairtrade product here; the Clipper citrus & aloe vera green tea. The tea is also organic, a better choice! There are only natural ingredients in this tea.
Below, you see the fourth healthier option than drinking alcohol with Christmas. This non-alcoholic Swedish drink called Caliente Chili Drink is organic too. The drink has Chili in it, which gives a natural kick, instead of sugar or alcohol does. It’s really spicy when you drink it! I loved it.
5. Healthier on the way
Meeting family members? Taking a plane or the car to travel to loved ones? Maybe you like to eat something (healthy) on the way. I believe in a vegetarian lifestyle. I still eat some meat, but every time I find options to eat vegan or vegetarian, I feel good! The candy from Veggie Peggy is “oink free”. The candy is seriously one of the best I ever tried. Do something good for the animals and yourself; eat animal-free candy. The candy is vegan, lactose free, gluten free and organic.
If you’re a bit hungry, try the Good ‘n Go Oatmeal apple and cinnamon. This oatmeal is the perfect snack in between meals while traveling. Or just to put it in your bag to work.
Ok guys, now you don’t have any excuse anymore, there are some healthier options during the holidays, but hey, don’t feel obligated!
If you like the idea, all these products came out of the Smakbox Balans (balance). This Swedish foodbox has much healthier options than the normal Smakbox. I like it a lot! Of course the box came with a magazine 12 recipes and ideas with the products from the box.
