Baby Mason is four months today. Time for an update. Cherishing every moment with him!
Mason is four months
Pretty strange moment, when he turned four months today. As our firstborn daughter Féline never made the four months, she passed away just before. I felt that this effected me somehow. Realizing that Mason is older now and that all the experiences from now on, are going to be new to us. A new age and we will actually see him getting bigger and older. And that is so nice!
I have dreamed a lot about Féline too and that it would’ve been so much fun to see them growing up together. Laughing at each other and taking pictures together to capture the moments.
The first time we took Mason to an indoor pool was today! We went baby swimming with him on his ‘four months celebration’. It was so much fun! He loved the freedom in the water and all the space to swim. Both Mache and I held him in the water and played with him. He met several other babies and he likes to socialize. He liked the instructor of the baby group as well.
We put him a special water diaper first and then a swimming pants. Such a cute mini baby swimming pants! We brought his bathrobe for afterwards. The swimming took about 25 minutes. I think he really enjoyed it. He likes it more to be on his belly, than on his back. He wants to move.
Yesterday night, he suddenly started to crawl. Just a few seconds and he fell on his nose too. He kept trying until he managed to crawl! I’m so proud. Exactly the day before he turned four months, he took his first steps crawling on the floor. I think when he starts to get better at it, he will move a lot. He’s a very active baby when he’s awake (and slept enough in between). He likes to move towards our dogs. They are a good motivation to crawl to.
I bought him already some X-mas shoes and a X-mas sweater. I think it’s so cute to soon have our first X-mas together in the Netherlands with my family. I’m so grateful. We will surely visit the grave of Féline too and put some X-mas flowers on her little garden. All I wanted for X-mas was him, a second baby, and yes, my X-mas dream of last year came true! Can’t wait to take our first X-mas picture.
We went to the baby group with other babies and moms, here where we live in Stockholm. It’s so nice to meet a group of moms that live in the neighborhood and have about the same age babies as Mason is. We have a whatsapp group too to share ideas and we have little ‘meet ups’ on the open day care (where we just can sing together for example). It’s a meeting where the mom stays with the baby, so the baby can adapt to other babies and groups of people. I haven’t been there yet, but I will do this soon too.
Mason has a strong will. He start to make ‘cranky’ noises when he doesn’t like something (which is really hilarious for us to hear actually). It’s unbelievable cute how he tells us he doesn’t like something. He turns his head away also and even moves his upper body away from something or someone.
He gets bored easily too. Sometimes he wants to do something else every 5 minutes and interaction can be the key. Although I think it’s important that he sometimes tries to play alone in the baby gym for example. But he does that very well.
Grow baby grow
He’s passed the 6,5 kg now and he’s sometimes size 62 and sometimes size 68. Last check he was about 62 cm. That was about two weeks ago. He’s exactly on the middle line (average) with his weight and the size of his head. The length is a little bit below that. We as parents are also a bit shorter than average women and men, so that makes sense. Mason is doing great. Can’t believe Mason is four months already. They grow up so fast!
He’s sitting in the baby chair from my article about Vaggaro. Don’t know if you remember this combo I wrote about. Pretty cool that he’s big enough to sit (with support).
He loves to ‘blow bubbles’ with his mouth and start trying to make new sounds with his voice as well. He enjoys it to have ‘a conversation’ together and really interact.
Thank you for your interest in our little bundle of joy and hope to see you soon again!
