I am sharing my maternity photoshoot with you today! I did a shoot with Alina Lea from Art of You! Mache was there as well, we took some ‘family shots’ together. I will tell you my experience and show you a lot of the photo’s!

Maternity photoshoot

Maybe it’s not that famous yet in Sweden as we think; to have a romantic Maternity Photoshoot. I found Alina Lea online and to me, she is the perfect artist and photographer to have for your maternity photoshoot. She’s is very talented and passioned about her work. She has a lot of ideas and creates more than just pictures, it’s a little lovestory she creates. I had the chance to be her model, together with my husband.

The big day

We started at her house, to dress up in one of her gorgeous dresses. She advices you which dress is good for your body, but you can choose yourself which dress you prefer of course. The dress I had is a ‘pink cloud’. As every mother (and father) dreams about the new baby, we are on this pink cloud. The new dress symbolizes this to me. It’s so fluffy and precious. I felt like a princess barbie doll wearing it. Since the baby isn’t born yet, this was something for us, for me. As a reward for my ‘hard work’ carrying the baby and also to capture the big belly before it’s gone again. We enjoy the little baby kicks and the growth of the bump.
After dressing up, we drove to the first location. This is completely Alina’s idea. She always finds romantic or beautiful places in Stockholm, where  you find yourself in a lovestory or fairytale just by being there. We had two different locations in total. On location one, Mache and I were in the pictures together, while on location two, it was more focussed on the bump and I.

Tips and tricks

Some good advices to prepare yourself for the maternity shoot:
1. Eat and relax before and bring some snacks during the shoot (it took us about 3-4 hours)
2. Wear heat packs hidden in the dress, this keeps your body warm while shooting
3. Put a lot of make-up on, make-up always shows less on pictures
4. Feel absolutely comfortable with the photographer, choose someone you trust
5. Don’t go for the cheapest option, you only do this ‘once’, so find yourself a true artist

I didn’t have my own maternity photo shoot when I was pregnant but would love to try in the future for my second child. Looked at her IG account and she really has a great set of photos. I have so many concepts in mind and would actually love to do them in time 🙂

I normally cringe with many maternity shoots but she has captured the moment and your feminity perfectly, you look like a princess! I’m also grateful you included your tips “don’t go for the cheapest option.” So many clients say to me “but xx is almost half the price cheaper.” Your photos are evident that you pay what you get. 😉

What a great idea! These are some nice memories to have. I feel like a lot of mothers tend to feel “fat” or unattractive when pregnant so this could be a really nice gift for someone to remind them that mothers are beautiful! The quality of these photos is amazing.

How I wish you posted more photos on your blog so we could appreciate it more. Indeed, you look like a Barbie doll with your gorgeous gown. I think also if Barbie was pregnant, she would look like you 😀 I love the locations and the shots. I would love to have a maternity shot too in the future 🙂
