New Year Resolutions | Planet Refurbished

It’s the end of the year and that makes me always think. Lots of things have happened. I became a mother of our second child and the mother feelings have changed me. In a good way.

New Year Resolutions

One of the things I like to do different the coming year is to buy less new things and throw away or give away stuff I hardly used. As a blogger I get a lot of products to try out and to use. Many times I can give some things to family or friends, sometimes I throw away make-up that I hardly used for example. It’s not nice, because it’s not something I stand for normally. However I like to promote companies and brands that make the world a bit better. To keep things balanced.
You’ve seen me posting blogs about vegan products, Vegetarian products and cruelty free products for example. As well as fair-trade or other products that are better for the environment and earth.

The next generation

As our son is the next generation, I like thinking ahead. Buying clothes and using them for only a short while and buying new clothes all the time, is not something I would like to continue in 2018. It gives such a short period of happiness. So I rather invest in something I like to use for longer time, or promote companies that do something good for the environment or animals.

Planet Refurbished

One of the companies that does something good for our earth is Planet Refurbished. It’s a Dutch company that cleans and fixes used iPhones and iPads for example. So they are good as new, but they are used. Which is good for the planet. People often buy new phones all the time and this is a good solution for used phones. The thing is, when you buy a phone at Planet Refurbished, you still have two years guarantee and 14 days to try the product and get your money back. Great to have the benefits of a new phone, the price of a used phone.

One of my New Year resolutions is to maybe buy an iPad here. For Mason is great to watch some baby TV while traveling by car or train for example. Or for me when he’s sleeping. I will surely not buy a new iPad, they are so expensive and I will not use it that often probably.

Fix products
My other New Years resolutions are to try to fix used products when they break or try to renew a part, instead of just buying something new. Now, I am not that handy, so I let companies like Planet Refurbished to the difficult work. Or my hubby haha! What I can is support people that stand for good solutions for our environment, animals and other people. Let’s make it a better year. Can you do a baby step in trying to make the world a better place?

Sweden
Did you know that Sweden imports waste from other countries and recycles materials? I think that’s so inspiring. Sweden makes a good example in that way. Some countries in the world even make people pay for trashing their waste.  This results in poor countries that people throw away their waste on the street or in the nature. It’s good to realize we live in such good counties (the Netherlands and Sweden and many other European counties). It’s a true privilege and we be grateful for that.

As an influencer or blogger, it’s my duty to think a bit extra about what kind of products I like to promote. This is why I have been contacting Planet Refurbished. I started this collaboration. Unfortunately no discount codes for you, but I tell you this; doing good will result in a good karma. If you believe in that. Or in a nice feeling that you did something good for the planet and the next generation of people living in this world. Like our little Mason, or your little niece, neighbor or any cute baby you know. Do it for them. Do it for yourself or for the animals.

These are great goals & values for the next year. We have started recycling & tried to reduce our plastic waste. It’s hard tbh, when all the cucumbers for example, are packed in separate plastics. Blah.
All the furniture that didn’t come with us to our new apartment, we gave away. It’s so much more easier than just carry them to the grabage room haha.

Interesting post, Sabine! For me there are a lot of New Years resolutions – I’ll share those in my blog at the beginning of 2018. Mine are focused more on improving myself than environment and those other things that are of course good resolutions as well. What comes to collaborations it’s of course a plus if the company is local, eco-friendly, etc. but it’s not a must for me though.

    Happy Holidays!

I haven’t really sat down and thought out my New Year’s resolutions yet but I definitely think one will involve making less of an environmental impact/waste.

Your goals are so thoughtful! It’s so nice to think the people around us and to help them change their lives and the world, even if this means just a small change. I receive a lot of new products from my collaborations on Polyvore or from blogging cooperation and I try to gift or donate things i don’t use or don’t suit me. Having less sometimes could be more!

Sounds like a great plan! You could talk to your friends, who just had babies and exchange clothes from well-known sources (since flea markets may or may not be your first choice), thus, the kid will grow but you can use 2nd hand garments that will only be needed for 6 months or so! I also like to meet up with friends and colleagues and exchange clothes! It’s a great idea and brings some “life” into your wardrobe! :)
