Vassa Eggen Steak House
Today I am showing you the amazing dinner I had at Vassa Eggen Steak House with my friend and blogger Daniel (@livetoeatlovelife). He blogs a lot about food, drinks, travel and lifestyle. We had a really nice night out and discussed a lot about blogging and some ideas. It’s great to have a friend that has a hobby in common; blogging. He is the biggest fan of food and very passioned about it.
Vassa Eggen is located at Stureplan. This restaurant is really one of my favorites. I have been teling you about Stureplan before in a city guide about Stockholm. Vassa Eggen didn’t end up in my guide, but is still a real good restaurant which I would like to recommend to you. That’s why I am showing you this dinner with pictures. So if you are around in Stureplan, go over to Vassa Eggen and check it out!
We ordered some different dishes and all of them were really good. I’m going to tell you a bit about what we ate. We took a table outside, the light is really great there and the terrace is very cosy as well. So it was a good choice to sit there. I must say that the table is a bit too high for me (or the chairs too low). So if you’re not that tall, you might want to check this before choosing to sit outside.
We ordered all the food together; we took two appetizers and split our main course.
1. Carabineros Gigante (Spanish prawns), rouille, gremolata, salsa fresca.
2. White asparagus AAA, bleak roe, egg yolk, herb cream, browned butter.
3. Flat Iron Steak with sauce béarnaise , red wine sauce, basil butter and a salad on the side.
I loved the white asparagus AAA the most; the taste was very exclusive. The steak was perfectly medium and very juicy. I didn’t enjoy the Spanish prawns that much, because we were not offered a towel to clean our hands. Not before and not after. I had to go and wash my hands two times. Of course this kills the time together and I’m used to better service. In general was the waiter that we had not that knowledgable about the food and the ingredients. For a restaurant located at Stureplan, this is not the way it supposed to be in my opinion. However this was the second time that I ate here and the first experience was totally different. Much better I must say. Although, this time I had great company and a lot of fun!
However, the food was amazing. The chef really did well. I loved the food and the way it’s presented. It looked and tasted superb!
Last but not least, we both ordered a dessert. I took the simple but classy Creme Brûlée which I always like to try in different restaurants. Daniel took French toast with vanilla ice cream, white nectarine, pistachio, raspberry, blueberry cream and some roasted almonds.
The desserts were very tasty and afterwards Daniel took a coffee that was served in a cute coffee pot. Typically Swedish; only black coffee. The milk and sugar were not placed on the table, you had to ask for it. This might be a part of the tradition to drink your coffee black in Sweden. However, they could see that we both weren’t from here. Could’ve been a nice gesture to serve some sugar and milk.
Overall experience, not as good as the first time, but the food made up for the small disappointments here and there. I think if we would have had an experienced waiter, the overall experience would’ve been perfect. So, for sure I will go back, hoping for a different waiter.
Would you like to eat at Vassa Eggen Steak House or do you have any experience from here already? I’m very curious about how you have experienced this restaurant.
