As some of you might know, I am in the Netherlands at the moment. We flew from Stockholm to Amsterdam to meet my family and friends here in Holland.
When in Amsterdam
I just love to be in the Netherlands. Get my ‘Holland-battery’ reloaded. We stayed over at my mothers place for Christmas and we will have a holiday in the Netherlands too, since I found this really family friendly resort in the Netherlands. It has an indoor pool with baby swimming, indoor playground, even for the youngest. This will be super.
Anyways, my husband and I had our second date in Amsterdam, more than five years ago. Amsterdam is always a city that warms my heart. I’m thinking to bring more ‘Amsterdam’ to our house in Stockholm. I already have the wooden shoes (a small reminder to my home-country). When I am in Amsterdam, I love to go to the canals, see all the bicycles and the vibes of the city. It’s an international city but Amsterdam is small, comparing to other capital cities. A lot of people I met all over the world, like this special vibe of Amsterdam.
Amsterdam in my heart
I have so many beautiful memories in Amsterdam. From going out at night with friends and shopping in the CHANEL store, to walks in the famous Vondelpark. Close to the canals, there are many museums and stores as well, where I love to come. I’m not a big fan of the red light district, since I don’t feel that this is something typical Dutch… To me, this is just a touristic place. Very overrated also haha. However, when mentioning Amsterdam, this is something a lot of people think about. I have different memories in my heart in this beautiful city. It’s so much more than the smartshops and the weed. Let me tell you, if you haven’t been in Amsterdam, it’s a must-see! When in Amsterdam, try to ask a Dutch person where to go or just have walks around the canals of Amsterdam and the Dam square. Take a boat trip in the canals for example and you’ll see Amsterdam from the water!
Bring Amsterdam to your home
In order to bring this amazing city with me to Stockholm, I’m thinking to order a canvas at Pixers and hang it at home. It’s just difficult to choose. There are so many great images of the canals of Amsterdam, windmills, bicycles and much more. I like the idea to bring the vibe of Amsterdam into our home. As a reminder that I am Dutch and our daughter and son are half-Dutch. As a vibrant, colorful detail on our white walls. As an inspiration for every day. My favorite canvas at the moment, is this one below, with the pink details of spring. I’m ready for an early spring!
What is the vision you have, when you think of Amsterdam?
Which one would you pick for your home?
Have a good weekend!
